Meta has launched Meta Enterprise Platform, a new business built to sell its artificial intelligence tools to companies and developers, and hired MongoDB chief executive Chirantan “CJ” Desai to run it as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer. The announcement was made in a statement on Monday 28 September 2026.

Founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg called the unit “the next major pillar of our business”, saying it would “help businesses use AI to grow and transform in new ways as well”. The initial line-up folds in the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code.

Desai will report directly to Zuckerberg. He served as chief executive officer and president of MongoDB, previously led product and engineering at Cloudflare, and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as president and chief operating officer.

“CJ is an experienced enterprise leader with a track record of building full-stack software and delivering results in AI, infrastructure, business applications, and security,” Zuckerberg said. “He has an extensive industry network that we look forward to partnering with.”

Desai said AI would “fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers, and run business operations”, adding that the goal was to “make Meta the place enterprises come to scale their businesses”. MongoDB has named former chief executive Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive.
