Klitschko granted temporary guardianship of Panettiere's estate

Wladimir Klitschko has been granted temporary guardianship of Hayden Panettiere's estate after a Los Angeles County hearing on 8 October, at which their 11-year-old daughter Kaya appeared remotely. His attorney also asked for powers to have police investigate claims a non-family member pawned the late actress's possessions.

Wladimir Klitschko has been granted temporary guardianship of Hayden Panettiere’s estate, after a hearing in Los Angeles County on Thursday, 8 October, at which their 11-year-old daughter Kaya appeared remotely.

Kaya briefly joined the hearing by video alongside her father to confirm her identity, wearing a white T-shirt. She was “soft-spoken and composed” as she spoke to the judge, according to People. Judge Stephanie Santoro appointed the 50-year-old as temporary guardian of the estate — of which Kaya is the sole beneficiary — until a long-term administrator is appointed, and said the 11-year-old need not attend the next hearing, scheduled for December.

During the hearing, Klitschko’s attorney Diane Park sought additional powers for him to ask law enforcement to investigate the “recovery of property believed to be misappropriated” by a non-family member. On Tuesday, Klitschko filed court documents claiming a non-family member previously connected to Panettiere had pawned some of her possessions, including jewellery, according to documents obtained by TMZ. The pawn shop would only discuss the items with police, and he feared they would be sold on without authorities’ involvement.

The move follows his September petition, in which Klitschko said Kaya was “entitled to the entirety” of her mother’s assets and called the appointment “urgent and essential”. Panettiere, 36, died in August; the Greenville County Coroner’s Office attributed her death to the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine. Her family told TMZ they support the filing: “Wlad is a great father, and we are grateful.”
