Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice has married his long-term partner, journalist Isabel Oakeshott, in a ceremony at Westminster’s Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, according to reports published on Sunday.
The pair, who were engaged in December, tied the knot in the historic chapel within Westminster Hall, a venue regularly used by MPs and peers for weddings, the British Bulletin reported. Oakeshott described the day as “so special” on social media, adding: “Thank you Nigel Farage for introducing us ten years ago.”
After the ceremony the couple hosted 70 friends and family members at the top of the Shard, with English still and sparkling wines on offer. The newlyweds have six children between them from previous marriages.
Tice proposed to Oakeshott at the Royal Oak pub in Ramsden, Oxfordshire, on Boxing Day. Recalling the moment for the Daily Mail, Oakeshott said: “He appeared to be rooted to the bar stool, with his hand gripping his glass of mulled wine,” adding that he had asked for “a 14-day cooling-off period, which I rejected.”
The couple met through their work on the Leave.EU campaign in 2016 and have been in a relationship since 2018. Congratulations poured in on social media, with Reform UK chairman Lee Anderson calling the news “great news” and the party’s Treasury spokesman Robert Jenrick and justice spokesman Sarah Pochin also offering their best wishes.
