Mumbai Police have intensified the investigation into the firing on Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, registering an FIR against three unidentified persons at Juhu police station under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, NDTV and the Economic Times report.
Fifteen police teams have been formed to trace the attackers, and one suspect has been detained for questioning based on similarities in clothing and physical appearance; his identity and role have not been disclosed, ABP reports. Police have recovered the motorcycle allegedly used in the attack, abandoned in Andheri, and believe the suspects fled towards Andheri railway station before continuing by local train, according to ABP and the National Herald.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said Shroff “is safe and has not sustained any gunshot injuries” after five rounds were fired as he left a football ground near Pushpa Park, Juhu, on Sunday evening. His driver Firdaus suffered a gunshot wound to his left hand and may need surgery; an autorickshaw driver was also injured. Shroff drove the injured driver to Nanavati Hospital himself, police said. He was treated for minor abrasions and injuries from gunpowder and glass shards, and later left hospital under police protection, Times Now and ABP report.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said “no one will be spared,” while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff, the Economic Times reports.
A social-media post attributed to Anil Pandit of the Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the attack; police have not verified the claim and have declined to comment on it.
