Nvidia strikes industrial AI pact with Germany and backs four startups at Berlin summit
Nvidia and two German federal ministries signed a Joint Declaration of Intent on industrial AI at the Invest in Germany Summit in Berlin, while Jensen Huang pledged backing for four German startups as part of a near-$10 billion European push.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Nvidia chief executive Jensen Huang toasted a new industrial AI partnership at the first Invest in Germany Summit, held 19–20 October in a decommissioned Berlin power plant and drawing more than 200 domestic and international investment executives, Dealroom reported.
Two federal ministries — economy and research — signed a Joint Declaration of Intent with Nvidia to advance “physical AI” models for robotics and manufacturing across the Mittelstand, Germany’s small and medium-sized manufacturers. The declaration is a statement of intent, not a contract, and neither side has priced it; Handelsblatt reporting that Berlin is ready to put hundreds of millions of euros into the pact is unconfirmed.
Huang also announced planned investments in four German startups as part of Nvidia’s near-$10 billion commitment to back companies, universities and research institutions across Europe: Agile Robots (Munich, robot arms and the Agile ONE humanoid), Avelios Medical (Munich, an AI-native hospital information system), Mirelo (AI audio-video generation) and Reflex Aerospace (Berlin, satellites built in about 12 months). Nvidia published no individual amounts or terms.
“Please open your doors for AI to make use of your data,” Merz told German business leaders. The summit comes as Allianz Research found investment in Germany fell 6.4 per cent between 2019 and 2025 while US investment grew 20.2 per cent.
